Henry Single shot rifle

Every body is waiting on the Henry single shot rifle. Well how about all the other single shots. Traditions make a single shot in pistols and rifle calibers. Cva makes them also there scout and hunter model. I thought Rossi also made single shots in pistole callibers but don't see them on ther web site any more. The 44 mag cal traditions gun I have shot was extremely accurate at 100 yards. So what is your opinion on the other single shots ?

I have a fistful of the H&R Handi's in both rifle and shotgun.

But they don't make those anymore. On the plus side I recently found a brand new .45 colt handi barrel here for what I thought was a reasonable price.

I have looked hard at the CVA. But I wish they had more calibers I am interested in.
Half a dozen times I almost bought a .44mag but I have a H&R in .444marlin that does all the .44mag can do and more. So what's the point?

I see a very real market for lower cost single shots especially in pistol caliber carbines.
And there are always young people that need .30-30's, and old farts who have yet to acquire a .45-70.

I also think there would be a good market for the old calibers. .25-20, .32-20, .32 special, .38-55 etc.

I am a little surprised it is taking Henry this long to sort their issues out.

I have seen the h&r but since there not made anymore the price is just to much for me. I also want one in 45/70 44 mag and 38/357. 32 h&r mag or 38 -55 would also be nice

If you want a rifle or handgun single shot, with a handful of barrels, no doubt the T/C encore is the best. The first gun seems expensive, but you won't find a better market for barrels, and no fitment issues I'm aware of.

I got my new Henry single shot rifle in 44 mag. It looks and feels great!




Target is 25 yards, open sight with old eyes wearing 1.5 glasses to be able to see the open sights but makes it hard to see the target at 25 yds. Can't wait to mount a scope and try again.

Not everybody is waiting on the Henry. But I agree there are a large number of other single shot rifles on the new and used market that could easily fill many people's needs in the same price range.

The quality looks like it matches the other models in Henry's center fire line. I am looking forward to handling and most likely buying one in 44 Mag.

I like the look of the Henry also. The traditions in 44 mag I have shot I liked, it looked good but I really like the wood stock. The black plastic stock on the traditions was well just a plane

Jack, we RARELY NEED another rifle it is just a good idea.
I sold a number of guns last spring that I hardly ever shot any more and turned the money into this Shiloh Sharps in 40-50. So far it has been a hoot to shoot.

I put a scope 3x9x40 Tasco and went back to test multiple loads. My best load was the 310gr Lee GC over 20.5gr 2400 and CCI-300, OAL = 1.803"

Some of us have been eagerly awaiting news of these guns becoming available. This is the first report I've seen of somebody actually having one and shooting it. It is very much appreciated.

I will continue to develop other loads so I can have other recipes available for reloading.

Very nice. I was planning to get one like Camba's and purchase the straight grip stock from the brass frame for it. I contacted Henry and they said the stocks are not interchangeable between the steel and brass frames. Probably just end up with the standard one. Mid-$300.00's ain't a bad price. I bet if the Handi-Rifle was still in production it would cost about that much.
