    shot my first

    powder coated boolits today
    I am impressed
they were 400 gr 475 coated with flame red
when I started out I did have some lead streaking
from previous loads and the pc cleaned it out of the barrel
this was fired in a Thompson Center Encore for the upcoming deer season
thanks to all of you posters here that made it so easy to learn how to pc boolits

    Welcome to PCing.
They recommend cleaning your barrel before switching from J-Words to PC, not sure about lube to pc.
I hate the messy lube and coat all my boolits

Yeah...............and then it's two more.....and two more after that! Got quite a few, me. Some don't work very well, but I won't reorder them and will stick with what works FOR ME. Ya never know 'til ya try!

And me too +1 a BIG TYVM! to the gurus who spent six years proving the methods I so easily dropped into. Newbies: READ IT ALL.

proved it to myself anyway pc is more accurate
I was shooting my encore today started out with
regular boolits weighing in at 400 gr.pb 50/50 alloy and lubed with
carnuba blue could not get consistent shot groups just seemed to be
all over, random shots had some powder coated 400 gr gc hp's and those were
almost touching and in direct line with the scope sight
now I can't say for sure which one or if it was the combination of the pc and the gc
but the group differences were plain as the nose on yer face
    I am sold

yep, you're well on your way down that slippery slope of multiple colors of powder.

Right now I figure I can do 5,394,927 bullets with the amount I have--and am still looking at new colors

    @ White Eagle.
If you are going to use the PC boolits for hunting then remember they are Toxic to animals.
Not from the powdercoating, but from that big hole they leave in the animal.
    Good luck on your hunt.

Welcome to the other side..I do like how clean my barrels stay with PC.. Multiple colors are a must. Now that you are convinced, get the good powders, you won't regret it..

Some people like an assortment of colors, power to them and their freedom of choice, but I don't really care much beyond performance. Currently I use 2 colors only, JD Green primarily, as the Bacon Grease from Smoke is touted as being better with high velocity from rifles. So far my testing in a 308W is showing this to be true. My understanding is that the base materials, not the pigment, are different and that is why it is the better performer. Weird color and covers differently than the green but the performance is good.

I was an early skeptic of PC but am exploring it and in rifles it is quite useful.

This was my original intent, but that went out the window pretty quick. I store my bullets inside the see thru green MTM bullet boxes and Mark the tops with what they are.

I have read where the Bacon Grease is touted as working better for high velocity (which to me means it works better for low velocity too!!??) so I got some. Ugly as sin by itself so I added traffic purple. Much better and I call it bloody stool.

I also believe Smokes clear gives the best coat so I mix every color half and half with it and haven't looked back.

I use different colors to identify powder types/charges, and/or lead alloys.
Old enough to know better, young enough to do it anyway!
