    .357 advice

I'm starting to make a .357 swage die. What shape would be the easiest? I've seen an article that made the made the points in a conic shape, however some machinist favor the truncated cone. I' m gearing up to make the ream and want a better idea on the shape. I am planning on making a 3 sided ream that in itself will prove to be interesting.
    Thanks,
    Bill

I really like the semi wadcutter bullets. But being the proud owner of a ruger 77 357 rifle, wad cutters do not feed well. The cartridge has to feed out of the rotary magazine and up into the chamber the square edges hang up.Click image for larger version.

These feed well but are formed in a .223 rem size die. The decapping pin has been replaced by a hollow point pin.
Since the .223 case has a taper these bullets need sized back to .357 after the point form step.

I plan to make new die with cylindrical walls and a new punch,

Had this idea to use a .1875 ball mill to make an almost meplat with circular interpolation. The edge of the meplat would have a .09375" radius

Then forming a taper out to 357 diameter with a 15 degree mill. I need to calculate the length of the taper.

    My trig is weak.
