I wore them at the casino if I had to be in the electrical rooms... the fun fireproof/flashproof kind. With transformers heating the room to 120 degrees... hated days I had to route data lines that direction! Now I wear my insulated blaze orange deer hunting, and they are part of my winter survival kit.
You're retired. Explain to your beloved that, in addition to the privilege of remaining married to you, due to the intense respect and love you have for her, it is your intent to wear pants, each and every day while outside the home, whether you need to or not. That they may often be OD coveralls is incidental and immaterial. This should clear things up.
I've still got some red coveralls dating back to the early 70's when I worked for Baroid... Don't know why because they haven't fit in 30yrs... but they're still there. I don't wear coveralls now... only overalls... like the OLD time oilfield. I learned from the guys that built wooden derricks for the steam powered mechanical plants.
Not to far off the OP topic, but when looking for overall's, I call 'um Bib's, look at the Round House brand.

I've worn coveralls or overalls off and on since the early 60s. She bought them for me as a Christmas gifts and insisted I wear them. After 54 years I know not to argue, especially over petty things. Besides I like wearing them.
Information not shared. is wasted.
Agreed , stared wearing them in the seventy's working on drilling rigs . Wore Sears ..Big Mac's ...for years till they quit selling them . Ultimate comfort to work in , plenty of pockets and a true fashion statement ! Still wear em at the shop PLUS you can carry a bigger pocket pistol . Never liked coveralls...too restrictive .
No turning back , No turning back !
Do whatever floats your boat but keep in mind that there ain't no such thing as a 'happy home' with an unhappy woman under its roof. As for myself, after the first frost, around the house I live in old warm-ups and sweats until the first buds of Spring; comfortable, warm, and I don't have to change to go to my fitness center for a work-out...and I can put my insulated coverall over them if I'm headed to range.
