450 Bushmaster Ruger American is speaking to me.

I don't need one, I have two 45-70's, but it is speaking to me.

I have no interest in those 250 grain FTX bullets. Too darn expensive and not needed where I hunt. 100 yards would be an exceptionally long shot in the woods I hunt in.

What speaks to me is my 300 grain Lee GC boolit, powder coated. And that NOE 350 grain also speaks to me. 300 grain data is easy to find, not any for a 350 though.

I have no question that a 300 or a 350 grain cast bullet at 16-1800 FPS would knock the snot out of a deer. It does in the 45 colt rifle, in this all the more I'd say. On anything other than a body length shot I'd say the chances of recovering a bullet would be small. I like exit wounds and lots of bleeding.


The only real question is will it feed from the Ruger American magazine?

There is another thread somewhere on this rifle/caliber combo. If memory serves, he had no issues feeding the Lee 300gr from his rifle.
