I normally do not shoot bucks, mostly mature does for freezer meat and my Marlin 35 has put several in the freezer, all with cast boolits, all one shot.

I'd like some load details too. I like the .35 Remington and .358 Winchester.

Congrats, that's a nice buck and with a good weapon.

    With age comes wisdom
hunt where you can access with a tractor.

A friend owns some acreage and often there is poaching done on his land.
When he hears shots on his land, he goes and investigates scarring off the poacher and often finding deer, elk in various stages of field dressing.
He is not a wasteful sort and has several large freezers

Good going! I use levers and tractor buckets in my deer hunting too. Congratulations.

I just bought a new Marlin 336 in .35Remington and I'm looking forward to the season.
Our firearms season starts next weekend, on the 18th, and I'm ready.

I have two choices for ammunition.
The factory load I've been practicing with is the Hornady LeverEvolution 200gr with the FTX tip, but I have also dialed in with some hand loads that look promising.
I seated a Seirra 200gr round nose Pro-Hunter pills over 40grs of LeverEvolution with great results.
I have not shot them over a chrony yet, but they group extremely well.

These others are probably not knowing how cold it was? But I do. You earned this one. Dandy fork sir.

It might be called a 5 pointer as it had a couple of nubs to try to make it a 6 point. Doesn't matter as it tastes the same. I live in a bucks only zone.
I used a Hornady LE and the rifle is an old Marlin waffletop with Ballard rifling and a 24 inch barrel. It had a Tasco 3X9 scope mounted when I bought it so I m not responsible for spoiling a waffle top. I replaced it with a 1.5X4.5 Bushnell. This was not an expensive scope but its held its zero year to year. This is the 5th deer I have taken with the old Marlin. I have strayed from time to time and been unfaithful with a 243, and a 8mm Mauser but I seem to get venison when I use the old 35. I still have some factory loads to shoot up for brass as I don't shoot this rifle a lot. Gone 5 shots for 5 deer with it.
I drive the Kubota to deer stands over my 4 wheeler. Tractors don't seem to disturb things as much and it is much handier to bring game back with. I just roll them into the bucket. Shot an 8 pointer once and had an old tractor before this one. I wrapped a log chain around its neck and drug him in with that. My old hunting buddy was kind of put off about that as he seemed to think one should drag them in by hand or something.

I have had trouble with my .35 and recoil moving the scope back but it still shoots under 2" @ 100 yds. I'm hesitant to tighten the rings any more due to pinching the tube and locking the variable tube up. I probably should turn the insides and coat with a resin to stop the recoil shift but every deer that gets shot at ends up in a freezer. Best deer rifle ever and great with cast boolits. I prefer the RCBS 35-200 FN over all others. Easy casting, great finish.

Have a 35 Rem in a H&R shanti rifle, rifle shots cast bullets well. Load at reduced velocity so grandson can shoot without too much recoil.

    Nice deer, good eating.
