I've been sizing AFTER PC'ing using Lee push thru sizers. My boolits are oversize so sizing some of my oversize boolits is a pretty good workout e.g. takes a lot of muscle to squeeze them thru the push thru sizer. I don't have any issues with my coating scraping off during sizing or flaking off after sizing. So, assuming you don't have issues with your PC bonding during sizing, why are you sizing before you PC? What is the benefit to doing this? - JJ

I gave up on my Lyman 450 5 years ago, PC all the way! Started out with the Harbor Freight gun, switched to the 'Sears' ish blow dryer/no compressor gun, and now just tumble coat with Prismatic Powder. Latest test, .223 NOE 62 RN PB, 2300 fps. Accurate as eh, minute of soda can at 100 yards. The alloy was 50/50 wheel weight/soft lead. Next test will be all WW, then maybe spring for some Linotype. What the heck, a 3 bucks a pound/9 pounds per 1k, that is some cheap plinking!

Pretty new to casting. Only been at it about a year but never was interested in using lube. The sizers I found all cost $200+ that is something I didn't want to pay. I got powder for $12 a pound, toaster oven for free, and already had a container. How could you go wrong.

You can go wrong by not sizing those bullets get something to size them with Lee push threw I think would the be the cheapest way to go.

I have serious lung issues (one lung...asthma..and serious COPD) so I am not able to do any casting...I have been shooting Missouri bullet co "Cowboy" special projectiles for quite a while...lubed with the blue crayon lube..the smoke and pollution for my lungs when indoors was really a problem...not Missouri's problem but just my lungs...I tried some AAlox coated bullets and the smoke was a real issue...so I tried some of the Missouri Bullet Company coated bullets and I have no issues at all any more...I'm sure there are lubes that would work and probably some other coatings..but the MBC coating on the lead bullets I get from them have solved my issues 100%...Some will say "don't shoot indoors" but where I can shoot outdoors is dry and dusty and often a location with major fire hazards so I go to a large, well air conditioned indoor range and I can keep on shooting for a few more years I hope.

I did, and I would really like to pc, especially if I could reduce my gas check usage. I know all the info is out there, but after 77,366 pages of reading left...

    I even painted a few...

Anybody have a few links to a ‘few’ pages that cover this well would be great.

I find sizing with Lee push through sizer (or sizing in general) to be more significant than if I use tumble lube (45/45/10) or PC. I mostly tumble lube revolver, PC rifle but sometimes will PC revolver just for the "pretty" aspect. Make neat show-n-tell picture on phone. I can tumble lube a whole lot in a short time so for snub nose plinking etc. nothing gained from PC. In .357 magnum? There I think PC is a smidge better that tumble lube in a zip lock baggie.

I size before PC for rifle bullets for two reasons. Inspection and detection of flaws is easier before PC and I'm probably putting gas checks on while sizing. I'll size after PC too unless I know bore needs that extra thickness. Gives me a chance to inspect post PC and trim any flashing off the base. Not fastest way but works for me. Not much hassle for the quantity that goes through a bolt action. For semi-auto .223 I'll spend much of the winter working to have plenty for when good weather arrives. Revolver since I PC so few speed of production is not an issue.
Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.

I use PC in a tumbler with 15 lbs projectiles at a time. I dump them in a strainer to shake off the excess then dump them on a tray making sure they are layed out. Then I will bake them for 30 min. At 400 F. Never ever have had a problem.

I am relitively new to casting and PC. I have never tried tumble lube. I almost went the lubrisizer route, but I saw the pc videos and went that way. Lee push through sizers, pc, and a $10 toaster oven gets the job done just fine.
With the dumb ammo laws in CA now, I am casting more this year then before.

Not me. I did 3,000 lee 358-125-RF yesterday. 1,500 jet black and 1,500 traffic purple. I will size them for 39/357 or 9mm at a later date.

Powder Coating a lot of bullets with the electronic spray gun is very easy after a little learning time. Put together an air cylinder powered sizing press for sizing the coated bullets has made sizing very easy. The Lee push thru sizing die with air powered press has been a time and labor saver for me.
Use an automated Master Caster for casting the bullets and cast 5000 to 6000 bullets over a weekend, powder coat the next weekend and size in the evenings.
