Marlin Camp 9 and cast boolets

I was reading post on the Marlin forum, and lots of them said not to shoot cast in this rifle.
I've shot a few trying to find a good boolet.
Seems that they think, with the micro Groove barrel, it will lead foul.
Any thoughts on this????

Don't know about the 9, but I've shot a bunch of cast through my camp .45 with
no problems.

The most fun I had on a sunny afternoon in Central Tx was shooting up all the 9MM cast reloads I had made up for a friend and his Marlin 9MM camp carbine. It was the Lee 356-120-TC with conventional lube. It got really sooted and sticky from the soft lube but kept on running. Enjoy it, but plan on cleaning it from time to time. Not sure if powder coating would be better but it would probably not have the lube deposits and gunk left over. Dusty

I had the thought that maybe the lead bullets wouldn't grip the microgroove rifling all that well. But then it does work with the .22 LR rifles though. Anyway since lead 22 bullets work in the rimfire rifles with microgrooves then the 9mm ought to be fine too. A 9mm bullet isn't being thrown out any faster than the .22's are tossed out of the barrels.

I'm guessing that my Camp 9 doesn't know its not supposed to work well with cast bullets. That's about all I use in it and at 50 yards, it kills tin cans grave yard dead.

Iv shot several thousand .356 ranch dogs out of mine since i pieced it together with good results. HY-TEC coating works in anything. Enjoy your little rifle with no worries.

Dad had a 9mm and .45 ACP years ago. All he ever shot in anything was cast and he said he pretty easily got better accuracy from the 9mm than the .45 ACP, which was odd as he was a .45 ACP guy and said he could almost always get a .45 to outshoot a 9mm accuracy wise.

Guy on here shoot cast in Microgroove .30-30s all the time. Size them big and go shooting.

Cast Lee 356 124 T C don't know the difference between S& W rifleing & micro groove. Both guns eat them up and spit them out accurately.

I had a bunch of cast with different heads I got somewhere.
Was in a plastic bag so I didn't know anything about them.
They shot good.
I kept a few of the one that shot the best.
Going to pull down to see what powder and head.
Looks like the Lee 356-120 TC.
Looking for a peep sight for it.
Old eyes don't like the sight far away.
I've had this rifle for a long time.
I think I got it when it first came out.
Didn't think it was all that accurate. But all I had was 124G jacket.
Someone gave me some 115g jacket as a door prize.
it shot great with the 115g.
This rifle is fun to shoot.

My 6" SBR barreled shoots all my casts well, favorite is my tc 136 grain Lyman from an old 4 banger.

I have no problem with camp 9 or 45. I don't push them to the max, but its a tin can killer for sure. I do clean my guns after I use them.
