I have for sale: 17 lbs. of zinc ingots. The alloy has been XRF'd as 95% pure and is cast into 8 1/2" triangular ingots (angle iron molds).
The price is $17.00 + $7.00 shipping. Paypal F/F or USPO M/O. Post 'I'll take it' and PM pay and shipping info.

Isn't zinc a bad thing to have in lead?

Yes, it is. however, some people use it for other castings, for sacrificial anodes in sea water and some even cast bullets with it-(I once shot a .50 cal BMG-IIRC they were 275 gr bullets instead of 650-750). A check on that on-line auction site reveals that some are bidding astronomical prices for it and if this batch doesn't sell here, it will go there. Thanks for asking, Steve

I have wondered if this stuff would not be good for casting fishing sinkers. I have a couple of molds for these, haven't done much with them but one is an eggsinker mold and the other casts tear drop ones of various weights. Seems like you could use a bigger weight to get the same effect as what you're used to with lead sinkers and not have to waste lead.

Increasingly, it seems like they're getting restrictive about lead fishing lures in public waters, maybe zinc is the answer. Might have to start keeping those zinc wheel weights.

Here in Missouri we snag for spoonbill/ american paddle fish in the spring. I started using sinkers made of zinc last year every time you have to break off a snagged line. There goes 6-12 oz of lead. Zinc casts OK on a bank sinker mold you just have to Run It really hot

Do you cast the snagging hooks? I have seen big trebles that have weight cast around them I am told for snagging. We have spoon bills here, never thought to look into fishing for them.

Cannon balls are good zinc projects. Go right through cement blocks and keep on going from a 1 inch.
