I acquired this in a deal and wondered if anyone knew anything about it it if it's worth restoring. the only markings are a B or 8 C.
It was mounted on an RCBS stand.

1969 - 1978 Lyman #55 when they were under Leisure Products control.
Clean it up and use it.

It would appear that the powder measure will do you absolutely no good and should be mailed to me promptly.

Hope you can restore it and use it...Lyman 55's are outstanding throws. Looks like the metering drum is the same, it's easy to learn proper adjustment once you have the concept down and its accurate as all get out.

There are usually reasonably priced Lyman 55 powder measures on Ebay.I have several. They are my preferred adjustable powder measure although for handguns I use the RCBS Little Dandy measures.Parts are available from Lyman.Early 55's use a threaded reservoir, later ones use a press in reservoir. The current Lyman 55 black powder measure has a threaded reservoir that fits the early 55's

Sorry, I decided not to waste the money on shipping just to leave you with a lemon so I just threw it away.

Oh, please no, you did not throw it away!
Dig it out, I'll pay the shipping to save it.

I saw Pressman's post just in time and got it out of the garbage shortly before the garbage truck came.
Since he offered to pay shipping, I figured he could have it for parts.

Pressman I'm happy to see you get that powder thrower. I hope you will share some pics with us after you have worked your magic on it. If it was mine I would wipe it down with a good film of StrongArm and tuck it away for a month or so in a plastic bag (old bread bags work good). After a good soak I think most of the rust will wipe away. Sometimes on the tenatious rust on steel or blued parts a gentle rub with pure copper ChoreBoy does it after a StronArm soak. StrongArm is about the best stuff I have found for restorations of an original finish of anything you are restoring and want to maintain the original finish. I'm not a biker but JP Cycles in Anamosa has the best price on the stuff that I have found.

Hmm, I have always wanted to stop at JP but the usual hurry up and get there kept me moving.
