    Powder Coating

Last summer I cast a bunch of NOE. 41 cal HP bullets for a friend of mine using his mold. I was dreading coating them. HiTec didn't cover the HP enough for my expectations. I know it is a non-issue but since these were for a friend and I wanted them to look perfect. I have sprayed some bullets with great results but don't like the inconsistency and flashing on the base. That left me with airsoft BBs. I found my partial can of BBs so I threw some sage colored powder in and tumbled a few for about 30 seconds in the airsoft container. The looked good and baked good so I went all in. Enjoy.

I have collander and matching bowls from Dollar General. I just use it to get rid of the extra powder coating.

Now to take them out 1 at a time. All 700 of them... It took a few hours... my thumb cramped a little

I had some harbor freight red handy so I sprinkled it on a few. Just for show and something different. Final bullet weights were a consistent 228 to 229 grains. I am very pleased with the outcomes of this method for certain bullets. High volume pistol bullets still get HiTec

looks like you have a winner.

check out the threads about dumping the bullets on wire trays. Hard as it is to believe they look great without marks

colanders are a great way to separate PC from boolits

You could drill some of the holes in the bottom of the colander large enough for the BB's to go through or get a colander with larger holes and make picking up the boolits easier

I also source a lot of my incidental stuff from thrift stores, dollar stores, craigslist and offerup (similar to craigslist)

    +1 on what Walter said

    Same thing...different method

I like to dump the entire container on this cookie sheet...give it a push back and forth and all the casts will roll out parallell to one another...pick all the ones that are facing the right direction and then turn the cookie sheet 180* and pick up the rest.
It's fast as far as 'tweezing' goes and as they roll in the PC they will re-PC areas where they banged together.

The other thing is to tap the cast to knock off all the excess PC...especially the PC that tends to clog the HP.

    You did good!

I have sprayed a fair amount of bullets with mixed results and was about to give up on powder coating until I tried this. I certainly need to refine a few things. I have a lot of bullets to coat. I am all about efficiency because I have a limited amount of time to cast and coat bullets

To spray , you need to make bullet holders or platforms..

ID:	207363 I thought I had a picture of the other tray I use but it is hex head self tapper screwed into a sheet of aluminum. Keeps the bases from flashing.

With the collect opening to let the BB’s drop without modification?

Prolly so...but...you'll have to take a pocket full of BB's to the nearest 'Kitchens-R-Us' store to find it! . . .
