    Retro fun

My cousin's son inherited this Winchester model 75 Sporter with period Weaver scope. And he let me shoot it yesterday. The scope is crystal clear and dead on. Clipping floating 1/4" twigs in two in the creek was easy. I'm sorry I didn't get better pics.
    Best, Thomas.

Well that is retro and certainly looks fun! Sounds like clipping those twigs was very satisfying, I love plinking like that too.

To me there is something about those older .22 rifles than the news versions just can't seem to get.
Whatever cannot be remedied, must be endured.

When he first got it he asked me to mount a modern scope on it. I offered to beat him up on the spot. He's 28, 6'/300#. He laughed. After hitting soda cans @ 100 yds he saw the light!

The rifle is neat especially with the old scope. I like them a lot.
However, shooting at ANYTHING is water is a VERY risky thing to do. .22 rimfires will bounce off water like water runs off a ducks back.

Thanks for the reminder about ricochets.
We were shooting straight down from a rock bluff so no danger there.
But turtle shooting is popular here and kids learn early to shoot facing the dam always.
I have seen a boy and a cow both hit by ricochets. Both survived but 30 odd years later the man still carries the bullet in his back. The cow died of old age years later.
    Be safe!

I cut my teeth on Dad's 511 Remington. My uncle had the 512. My oldest brother et me shoot his Marlin 60 sometimes.
When my turn came, I went space age and bought a Remington Nylon 66.
