    Daughter got her buck yesterday

Daughter Samantha and I went elk hunting yesterday, didn't cut a track at one of our local haunts. We got back in the truck had a sandwich and some hot coffee then drove about ten miles to another drainage. We chose a USFS trail head we had never walked before, turned out to be a good choice, she filled her deer license and a couple hours later had him loaded and headed home. My daughter was very proud of her first 300 yd kill, I was too! She put a 130 Hornady into the top of his left shoulder blade which exploded and shattered his spine, he dropped at the shot. She is getting to be quite the "rifleman" at sight in she put 3 into .7" at 100 yds, we checked the target and I told her good job now lets load the magazine with 5 and 1 in the chamber and let you shoot a new target with 6. Dad figured in his mind this will open things up some, it did .9" for the six, lets find you something to shoot! I couldn't be prouder!Click image for larger version.

Thanks, and I am proud of her. If you look at the left antler top fork you can just make out the trail, looks like a white line with no trees or brush, so we are talking STEEP, probably why high hit. I thought he might just slide off the mountain but no such luck, seems like he caught a deadfall every 30 to 40 feet down, each time we dragged him over a log he seemed to be gaining weight!

    Congratulations.
Stories like these warm my heart and show a close father-daughter bond...
Her shooting ability would put most men to shame, I would guess that her shooting ability has much to do with you and your influence.

ID:	207302 Now she is passing down the tradition of hunting, fishing and guns just like she was taught to her two little ones.

Very nice! Congrats. Scenery reminds me of Alaska winter hunts.

Congrats on the memories made. Neither of you will ever forget that hunt. You will be reliving and talking about it as long as you live.

You should be glad for her.For what she learn and done you can not ask for more. It is also understanding for the size of that deer for it would get hard to get out of the woods. Good thing for the snow I hope it help some to drag it out.

Teach your kids to hunt, and you'll never have to hunt for your kids.
