    .30 Caliber beauties...

I cast a few of these today, with plans of doing some ladder loads. Powders on hand are IMR3031, H4198, H414, and H335.

50/50 COWW/soft lead, water dropped- fresh from the mold: As cast weight, 166.7gr

Sized and gas checked: Weight after sized and checked, 171.1gr

    I serve Jesus exclusively...do you?

    .45-70 Marlin 1895 GBL
    .30-06 Win. M70

I finally obtained a feedback post!

I’m torn between that pointed mould or the more rounded 180 grain .311 moulds. Nice looking bullets

IMHO too soft for rifle boolits. I would do straight WW or add Linotype to WW. Let us know how it turns out and what gun you'll be shooting from. Seen Elvis ammo use 4198 for 300 Blackout and similar Lee bullet in 155gr.

Looking good! I don't think you will have any problem with that alloy.

For best accuracy you will need to match your aloy hardness to your optimal velocity.

With the water dropping in about a week they should age to BHN 12-14 I think. That would be great to kick around 1200-1600 fps right? Anyway they are beautiful, you must be proud!

I typically shoot 10BH lead to 1600fps without a gas check. Id like to see if I can get these up to around 2k, as is.
