If this post is not permitted, please delete it with my apologies. I considered posting it in the For Sale area, but it is only relevant to smoothbore shooters so I figured it would be lost there.
I shoot smoothbore in competition in the North-South Skirmish Association. I was taught by my teammates to roll the balls between two files, so as to roughen up the surface and provide a "tooth" for the Lee Alox lube to stick to. We double (sometimes tripple) tip the balls in Alox lube. (I use Xlox - a much cheaper equivalent). Since the N-SSA does not allow wadding (although they do allow aluminum foil wrapping), I think the Alox lube acts like a soft patch for the ball.
Anyway, rolling the ball between two files works great, but it's time consuming. So, I invented a machine that does the same thing but much easier and much faster.
