Got an old box of these from a friend. So old that the lube is peeling out. 158 grain swc.
Anyone know the lead alloy these are made of? If not, I will just sent some into get tested. They are really hard.

Those been layin' around somewhere for quite a while. An old friend of mine started Bull-X in the mid-80s and sold the business around 2000. At that time, Bull-X was the second largest manufacturer of cast bullets in the U.S. and, in addition to selling their own product, supplied bullets for all the 'cowboy' ammunition sold by Winchester. New owner, however, was a total bust...ran the business into bankruptcy within 3 years.
So far as the alloy of your boolits, if they're the standard Bull-X bevel-base SWC (very shiny with blue lube), they're essentially Lyman #2 with a bit of extra tin. I don't recall the supplier, but Bull-X used only 'virgin' metal from a foundry down in Arkansas, alloyed to their spec in 10-ton lots. During the years that CJ owned/operated Bull-X, I put a lot of his product downrange and, actually, have 3 full boxes...(1) .452 225 gr. TCs, and (2) .358 148 gr. DEWCs...on the shelf underneath my reloading bench.

That's them. Shiny with blue lube.
Thank you very much.
Boy, I miss the old Bull-X. They made a perfect 100 grain SWC sized 0.314" for the 32s. Still have some, but, if I shoot 'em, I'll have none! Waaaa!
That is one reason, of course, for having so many NOE and MP moulds.
Still have a couple of boxes of their 300 grain heavy weights for 44 Magnum and 45 LC.

Bull-X, Wow I have not heard that name in a long tine.
After having our own small business for several years, my wife and I try to support small businesses as much as possible. I'm sorry they are no longer in business.
I shot some many years ago when I was shooting IPSC. If my memory serves me correctly, they were good quality bullets.
Be careful,
Victor
