357 single shots

What are good alternative to H&R .357 or other calibers. I have been looking for one for a long time now. How are the cva and traditions working out even though they don’t make a .357..... I am wanting a light weight type truck gun in the 300 dollar or less price range. I may end up going with a .44.

I'm still waiting for CVA and Henry to make a single shot in .357 magnum . I've looked the CVA .44 scout over and it looks like a good choice . I've heard they are very accurate .

I don't know if Rossi makes one in .357 but some of the guys here like the Rossi brand .

You may want to look into a used TC Contender carbine. I'm not into break back rifles but was
impressed with a TC/ scope rig that I shot last year. The other break actions all have terrible
triggers.

It seems to me that there is a demand for 357 rifles but no one seems interested in filling that need. Granted sales might not be as good as an AR or other platforms but if one of the manufactures would introduce a single shot. 357 they would have the market cornered.

I almost bought a CVA in .44mag, but I already have an H&R in .444marlin. Which will do all the .44mag will and way more. Even if mostly lately I have been loading .44mag loads into .444 brass.

I too see a lot of desire for less expensive but decent quality single shots in pistol calibers. They have turned into one of my biggest gun turn on's.

Keep your eyes open, keep watching gun broker, bud's gun shop and the like.

And you might consider a lever action.

Great idea but plan to spend closer to $450. Look at 30-30, 7/30 and a few others in carbine length as 357 are rarely seen used.

May need to get over the hurdle of a $300 limit for a single shot new. Not much out there anymore that wont be about $100 more than that limit.

I sent the folks at Midland a message too stating interest in pistol caliber carbines. They're located in the old Navy Arms facility just north of Martinsburg. BTW, the Midland guns are made in Turkey.

I would love cva to make one in 357 max! My brother just got a cva scout in 44 mag, shoots the 240 grain xtps like a laser,second day of MI rifle season he dropped the hammer on a large bodied tall spiked buck at 45 yards; deer fell over jumped up and ran 20 yards and died. The trigger of that little rifle was wonderful right out of the box and the price is great!

Hey I am no hater of guns made in Turkey. I have a pair of Hatsan break barrel .22 caliber airguns.
Man I love that turkish walnut they grow over there. Looks like plastic it looks too good, but its real.
Inside of the stock where it was inletted for the action tells the story.

In fact I'd even pay an extra charge for a really choice turkish walnut stocked single shot.

Tell em to talk to the Hatsan people. They know what they are doing.

Bought a .38 Special barrel for my Contender and reamed it to .357 Magnum. Easy. Shoots pretty well. Average group is about 2 MOA. Fine for deer.

Got a .357 barrel for a High Wall, too. Picked up at a gun show years ago, but have never had an action free to try it out on.

I've also gone the contender route, but I registered my G2 frame as an SBR, so I can use any length barrel I want on it. I've got a 10" .357 barrel that's threaded and I use with a suppressor. It's quiet and compact. The price difference between pistol barrels and carbine barrels meant that the tax stamp was paid off quite quickly.
