    NOE 459-500L group buy

NOE has a Group Buy started for a 459-500 mold that is a LEE clone. It has 6 signed up but needs more to make it go to production. Anyone interested should go and look at the line drawings and make your choice. It will be made on the large blocks because of it's length.

Go to NOE forum and look under Active group buys. It is for a 458 cal rifle as in 45/70,458 mag, 460 Wby etc.

This should work for all single shot rifles like the H&R Handi-rifle as well as Sharps and rolling blocks and Ruger #1's. Probably good for Contender pistols as well. It will need to be single loaded in lever guns because it's length is too long to feed from the magazine. This is a good design for shooting at steel targets at long range because of BC.
    Also used in 458 Socom.

I have some doubts.. The nose on that boolit is showing 0.1" diameter. which in a lever gun presents problems in the mag tube. That nose stacks right on top of the primer. I dont see this on as any good on a Marlin or Winchester 45/70 but maybe I'm wrong?....

This can be used in a lever gun if you load directly into the chamber...it is too long to feed from the magazine.

This thread has been viewed over 200 times. That tells me someone is curious or interested in a 500 grain 45/70 bullet for long range. I know there are people who have used a Lee mold in this style. It's time for some of those people to step up to one of the best examples of this mold. Sure it's a little pricey but how many of these molds will you ever buy? The quality is there and will last a lifetime. If you have never used a custom mold, well now is the time. At least go to the NOE forum and look at the group buy section for the 459-500 L and look at the line drawing.

So has anyone actually used this bullet for 458 winmag? Is it bore rider enough for the long lead? Was it a favorable design?
