How many coats for full power rifle?

I've read on here some people push 223/30cal/35 to 2500/3000fps.

Ive wondered if these people do multiple coats.

I never puts PC past 1750 or so. And NEVER in an AR15!

    Some do.

That is why I shoot only FMJ's in my AR15.

I light load 30-30 and 30-06 with PC all the time with no problems

Good to know. I have never pushed it past ~1800. Don't want to spend hours cleaning out all those silly little gas ports!!!!!!!!!!!!

What powder and alloy are you using?

H4895 4% Sb with some Cu. Only time I had trouble with cleaning is when shooting PB, port cuts off a bit of base.

Have never used more than a single coat and have cronographed just over 3000 fps with NO leading. I use only Smokes powder usually the "Bacon Grease".

Single coat of Smokes PC with gas checks. Just air cooled rang scraps/CWW mix (50/50). Grendel, 30-30, 260 Remington, .270, and 9mm all worked just fine from plinking fps to almost full throttle. I go for accuracy, not speed. Grendel is an AR15. It ate it all just fine. Accurate with no leading.

A really interesting thing I've been reading about paper patching is people use soft lead and achieve full 2500+ loads yet they don't report pin point accuracy... I'm still going down try it

I made a colander/ strainer that had large drilled holes for the ASBB.

i think some of my little scratches are from the holes. Small burrs ect.

Since i stopped the ASBB part of tumble coating i think i need to change colanders/ strainers.

I tried the BB and didnt like them. I had best results by warming the bullets a bit ( just warm in the hand). Then tumbling. I pour through a .25 wire mesh, then onto parchment paper. Never had a problem. I do keep the batches small so i can keep the spread out so the dont stick.

I finaly found a paper for patching that works for me so i can experment with paper patching. It work just fine with my normal alloy and load in .270. So now i can play with alloy and charges to see what happens.

Side note with multicoats is it enlarges the nose of riffle bullets. So if its a bore rider with a nice fit when you start, it wont after powder coating. You have to nose size or seat bullets really deep. I chose the path of seating deep and havent seen negative results.
