    Arisaka triggers: Huber or Timney

I've got a few Type 38 Arisaka's that have been sporterized and chambered to 6.5-257 Roberts. I put a Huber concepts on the first one and like it. Was thinking about trying a Timney for the other, any comments or experience you guys/gals can share would be appreciated!

I have a Timney on a Type 38 I re-barreled to 38-55 and I've been very happy with it. I also installed one for a friend on one a Type 38 that I barreled in .308 and its been working well too.

Did you install the type with the safety? Was the installation relatively easy/uncomplicated?

I did use the ones with the side safeties. I may have had to shim the back of the safety and I milled out the bottom of the trigger guard to accept the trigger.

This safety was a big plus as the original is clunky, near impossible to use with a scope mounted and it ugly. I actually machined off much of the original safety for cosmetic reasons and for that matter filled in the slot for the action cover too.

The 6.5 Roberts die set is on page 7 about a third of the way down from the top,.. It is the first one labeled 6.5X57 right before the 6.5X57 Mauser.

Back to the topic of this post.... Triggers for the Arisaka. I have a Huber trigger on a type 38 that I can not get to work right. Sometimes when you pull the trigger it does not fire, Or actually does not go click. I am afraid to try to shoot it because it will go click when you move the bolt handle to open it up. I am strongly considering going back to the original trigger. Is there something I should have done or adjusted that I didn't? I thought it was drop in but it is not doing what I thought it would.

Which trigger did you find to fit the Type 38 and 99?

I must be the only person in the world that likes the "Palm Safety" on those rifles.

Push in, turn left or right and let it come back in place.

TCLouis, I also like the original safety. It can be released silently. Mapp- I love that gun. The original barrel is rebored to .38-55?
A neighbor down the road has my old rebarreled 38 (16-1/2" 8x57) Someday I'll go buy "lil' Boomer" back......
