Does anyone have pictures of this bullet? Has anyone tested this in ballistics gel?

With my alloy and casting technique my solid version mold casts consistently around 158 grains for all eight cavities. The HiTek coated bullet is one that I am trialing around 850 FPS (135 PF) for my Production Division Glocks. Very soft shooting and accuracy looks promising.

I would like an 8 cav aluminum solid for powder coating if available.

Newby question: the casting cadence with a brass mold will likely be different from an aluminum mold of the same design and number of cavities, due to differences in heat retention, right? Also different with a different number of cavities?

I ask because I really like this boolit so far and would like to cast a fair amount regularly to feed my USPSA shooting (3 to 4 K a month). I have the aluminum 8 cav in this design, and am tempted to get a second mold to try casting both in rotation to up the rate of production, but it doesn't seem that Miha has any more 8 cavity aluminum molds left, and I'm not sure my plan will work with two molds with a different number of cavities and mold blocks of different materials.

    Hi Kevin,

Your question gets a complicated answer, sorry...

Casting brass and alum molds in sequence is generally no problem, you will have to find a cadence that works for you, but it's definitely doable. Heat won't be your enemy, once you get both mold temps upto your desired operating temp. It may be that you fill both and have to open the alum first and wait another 2-3 seconds before opening the brass mold, but it will work.

The thing I think would be bothersome is the difference in weight between the molds. If you bounce between molds, you will quickly figure out that you grab, hold a move around, a brass mold differently than an alum mold. The difference in weight, is going to cause you to NOT be able to get a consistent rhythm. I find that I end up fighting the weight and altering my technique and I just can't get the speed and consistency up where I would like it.

NOTE- I'm also a bulk caster, when I sit down to do 9mm, I'll go hard for a week, each evening after work I'll kick out 2K and then have a surplus for a month or two. So consistency is everything to me...

    Hope that helps.

Thanks Miha! I'll update this list and reduce the count with anyone that has spoken for a mold.

Thank you, Lakehouse, that does help. I hadn't thought about the weight, since I only have one brass mold, unused at the moment.

Thinking about it, another difference is that the molds with fewer cavities use knock bar sprue cutters, while all I've used are Lee six bangers, Accurate five cavity and Miha's eight cavity molds, all of which take the Lee handles with the cam lever handled sprue plate. Getting a two mold rhythm going with different weighted molds with one of the two using the cam lever and the other a mallet might exceed my abilities (I'm one of those challenged by just the thought of simultaneous mastication and ambulation), especially as I want to try the speed casting technique with sprue cooling with a damp towel - yet another fine motor twist of the wrist that could get thrown off by varying weights.

Well, as you know, I have ordered at matched pair of MP molds of another design. I'll go with my original plan of two molds in rotation with those.

Here’s the 154gr (from this GB) next to a 135gr RN. No ballistics gel though. Sorry.
