The 434 250 WFN GC Casts out at a consistent 236.5 grains with 50/50 COWW/ SOWW and the small pin. And I know I need some tin in my alloy....

That means checked and coated this will be a tad over 240 grains. Theres tons of data out there for a Boolit like this!!! Or if you run a solid at 250-252 theres tons of data for that boolit as well.

    This mold delivers!!!!

    Mihec,

Please invoice me for a .432 250- 6 cavity PB. Do not ship until the 434640 GC HP(without Pins) is ready.

Thanks for an excellent product. In the process of retiring other molds.

A good article in Handloader June issue about MP molds. I wish that Handloader magazine would allow people to guest write articles for magazine. I can honestly say that the brain power of the CastBoolit site is 1000 fold of all writers of handloader

I never saw an email either. Didn't know that it was completed.

Hey guys hows the gas checks fitting on your boolit shanks?
Mine seem to be too loose. I have tried 3 different mixes of alloy to try it out and is too loose on all 3 batches.

I been using Sage's gas checks and they fit very nicely on this mold. Mine seem to be tight enough that they don't fall off, even when the boolits are poured out of one container to another. My alloy is 50/50 cow and lead.
If it ain't broke don't fix it! I disagree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it to the death! When people fear the government it is tyranny, when government fears the people it is Liberty!

+1 on Sages standard or small shank GCs. I only order the small shank to cover the Lee 315 WFN and Ranch Dog 265 marginal sized shanks but they work on all 44 boolits.

I think its the size thing thats doing it. .434 is optimal sizing for the mold. not .436 and size down to .434. So not enough lead is displacing to allow you to size to .434 and get good gas check fit.

Mine are also, and I ladle pour, no matter which alloy I tried. Had some 50/50 lino and pure in another pot..........no difference. Bases are filled and flat. Had to go to Sage's small shank aluminum checks. BTW, I ordered the .434 diameter mould and sizing to .433 with my Star. They will only stay on using, Gator or Hornady copper checks, if I size to .432 diameter but if I wanted that I would have ordered the .432 diameter mould.

I have 4 overbored 44 magnums and I needed the extra diameter as well. It may take an entirely new cherry to get to your desired effect unless he can bore out some material as he does when he cuts GC out to make a flat base mold. This doesn’t affect everyone so it should be pretty clean when remedy is given.

See the attached link. The Boolit is a clone of the one shown here with loads with all the popular 44 magnum powders.

I haven't cast with my mould yet, but am not worried. It will join the pile of other MP moulds I have not used because I haven't yet gotten a roundtoit. MP has always gone beyond expectations on any potential problems. He even sent me a replacement mould for another I still have not used.

Have tested a few loads in my Marlin 1894 at 100 yards. Best group, so far, was with Starline brass, WLP primers, and 17.0 grains of 2400 for three shots in 1 1/4" C-C. These were HP's that were sized to .433 and cast out of three parts pure to one part lino, using the shallow pointed pin. They weighed approximately 238 grains for an average velocity of 1555.79 fps with a SD of 17.82 fps as measured by Lab Radar. An increase of one grain of 2400 will yield a average of 1639 fps.

BTW, I neck size then expand my brass, using RCBS 44 Special Cowboy dies.

Mine are on the small side, a .432" sizer doesn't clean up the bands completely. The Sage .44 aluminum checks are a little loose. I mixed in a lot of plain lead with this batch and the BHN is 9 so that is most likely why it is a little small. Not really worried about it.

Some of the other bullets Beartooth sells (like the .45 rifle piledriver designs have a negative tolerance (smaller) forward of the crimp groove. Helps with tighter throats and I am sure helps smooth the transition some. This bullet is probably the same.
