What must be remembered is that ammunition manufacturers are using powder too. According to Grmps and his forwarded email from Alliant (post 7), they, CCI and Blazer (ammunition manufacturers) are in the same company. Alliant is supplying their own ammunition manufacturing lines first. We only get the extra.

I been seeing the 2400 and other powders that is made by the same company on the shelf. I had load up when I found it now i am set for some time. But like Jeffrey stated about the group that makes powder and ammo. That they will keep there plants going first before we see any of it. Also if I remember right LC is under the same group I think they use the powers also from Alliant also.If there is no new gov contract on ammo we will also have a chance to see more.

after a long drought I am able to get it at one gunshop in my area and from a supplier that frequents the gunshows here in Maine but his meager supply is fast running out. 28 bucks and change.

LoL! Wish I'd been in 'the right place at the right time'. Someday soon, I expect.
I have been waiting on Powder Valley to get RL17 back in stock. So, they finally get it, but my powder buying funds are low so I wait. Now it is out of stock again!

Just bought a pound of H4895 at Bass Pro. Was $41 and change out the door. An 8 lb jug from Powder Valley would run about $25/lb at your door.

Bass Pro is not a good place to buy powder price wise.

No, but my LGS, who I would prefer to buy from even though they can't compete either, didn't have any, and they can't afford to put together an order from their distributor right now. Business is off since the election you know.

It's funny, it must be a regional thing. I purchased a good sized lot of it for my R&G Club back in Jan 2016 and while they have sold some here and there, of the original order, we still have about 1/3 of that order left.. It trickles out. I have not had to order any more in nearly 2 years.

I picked up an 8 pounder during the height of the shortage, about 3 years ago. Guessing I have 5+ pounds left.
If it makes you feel any better, I will not be competing with you in the purchase for at least a couple more pounds of use here.

Amen! Reason BP doesn't run out is the prices are so high it takes major need and desperation to order or buy from them. Powder & primers they are like the scalpers of the reloading world. We got your tickets, get your tickets, but it ain't gonna be cheap.

I see 2400 at gun shows, not always in stock but it shows up fairly often. Online it comes and goes but if you check the usual suspects web sites every week or so you will snag some in a fairly short time. Now getting enough of several desirable powders at same time so Hazmat is spread out to cover more pounds? That is a little tougher. Almost need to reserve that order for when you are ready to pick up a couple of 4# or 8# jugs and just toss a couple of 1# cans into the order. Sort of runs a big chunk for all at once.
Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.

Yes and it's a real shame Bass Pro bought Cabelas.

    Hi...
Stopped by one of the LGS today.
2400 in 1lb containers on the shelf at $27.99 each.
Several pounds available... location South Central Pennsylvania.
Has been available pretty consistently for some time.
I didn't buy any... stocked up last year and have enough for probably 5-6 years of pretty regular shooting.

I picked up 2 pounds the other day. I seen it there, kind off didn't clue in, then pinched myself to make sure I was not dreaming. I can't wait to try it, first time I have seen it except for the pics you guys post.

When I was at the LGS last Saturday they had five pounds sitting on the shelf. Almost bought some IMR Red and Target but decided against it. I still have an unopened 8# jug of 2400 and don't know when I will get around to using it.

I use 2400 in my "standard 357 mag loads"..settled on the particular load years ago and just never changed what I do...I've always got several pounds of 2400 and when I saw it starting to dry up I contacted my normal on line suppliers and didn't get too involved in a price war situation....I just bought about 10# as I recall and tucked it away...still using it up with about 4 # left. I watch the boards and hear folks talk about the shortages and in the next breath are complaining about the prices...they find the powder but are going to "hold out" for a buck or two less a pound...then when it's all gone they yell to high heaven and call folks like me a hoarder...maybe so but I'm still loading and shooting (I don't sell anything..might give some to a buddy)...I enjoy loading...and don't consider it some kind of big money saving process...If I need 2400 or 231 or H4350 and it's available...I stock up and don't hang around waiting for the final, last little price squeeze.

Powder Valley has had a boat load of powders in many sizes.....I went with a couple of buddies and really stocked up...now we got it and can just forget it for a very long time....As always I see folks doing comparison shopping on line and complaining about a buck or two a pound...when it's all gone I'll again be called a hoarder and be crititized for having 20# of "unobtainium #55) when the store shelves are bare...it's all available right now folks.

I'm a hoarder and proud of it , except for WW680 I try to keep 3 or 4 8 lb jugs of all the powders I use .

Just managed to buy 5# of Unique and 3# of 2400 at the LGS (all they had). It was the first time I have seen it in 5 years.

I've been checking with the LGS every couple of weeks for awhile now. Still no 2400 to be found.
