    First deer of the season

Well went out today and missed a doe this morning, but connected this evening on a yearling with my 405 JESS 265 GC 75 yards and cut the heart in half! I'm very happy with my rebore from Jess in my Westernfield rebored to 405 JESS, very good woods gun! Sorry no picture as it is skinned and hanging in the meat shed!

Gotta love a big bore lever gun. Congrats!

If I recall right, the .405 JES is the .444 Marlin necked to take a .40 caliber bullet is that correct?

Yes it is a 444 cut to 2.050 necked down to .412 and is shooting a 300 gr GC bullet cast from a buffalo arm co custom mold!

Congrats on the deer with your .405 JESS. What kind of ballistics does that rifle cartridge put out?
