My Marlin 1895 is putting these in 1.5" at 60 yards which ain't fantastic but since that's further than I can SEE in my woods I'm comfortable.Click image for larger version.

That's about the same weight bullet, with a lot bigger meplat, as the one I sent through a big Kansas doe's chest a couple of weeks ago at about fifty or sixty yards. Worked just fine, she jumped and took maybe five steps and dropped. Velocity was probably 1350-1400 FPS. That's the beauty of the .45-70, even when it's weak, it's still pretty powerful.

What exactly is that bullet? Who made the mold? Looks like it ought to be the perfect deer hunting bullet in the .45-70. I know guys seem to like heavier bullets, but we're talking about fairly lightly constructed animals here, and with a WFN like that, it should transfer energy very well.

I got the mold second-hand if I recall correctly; I think it was made by MiHec of MP molds and I think it's was referred to as 460325 GC 'hammer' as designed by 45 2.1 for BRP...
