    RCBS hand prime

My lee auto prime finally broke. Replaced it with rcbs hand prime. Nice tool, but my lee shell holders won't go in. Does the rcbs prime tool only accept rcbs shell holders? Has anyone had this happen? Surely I don't have to buy all new shell holders for every cartridge.

Regular shell holders work in the Rcbs. The Lee autoprime shell holders won't.

On my RCBS I think I have one Lee out of a half dozen or so that will fit.I have mostly RCBS shellholders they all fit fine.So yes the RCBS work and most times the Lee won't

Don't know about the Lee auto-prime, but I had this problem with some shell holders. Check the bottom of the shell holder. The plastic insert in the hand primer has a beveled shoulder that sticks up a little (I guess its there to strengthen the plastic). Some shell holders need a little metal to be removed from the hole on the bottom side before they will fit. For mine, I did this with a drill.

Thanks for the quick responses. Knew I could get the straight scoop here. Will start to get rcbs shell holders. I should have thought of that ahead of time. Oh well, live and learn.
