Loading .577 NE with the BPM Hand Press.

I figured you all would be interested to hear about one of my recent sales.

I sold a BPM Lock-N-Load Hand Press to a guy who is loading .577 Nitro Express with Paper Patched Cast Boolits.

He lives in Texas and has been going to Africa frequently and needed a portable way to reload those big boomers while on safari.

He removes the L-N-L Conversion Bushing from my press and threads in a RCBS Adapter for 1"-14 threaded dies and uses the standard RCBS Shell holder which fits the Adapter in the press.

I have pictures of what he did and the entire procedure, and the procedure will soon be up as a review on my Website.

This request blew me away when I got it as I never remotely thought the press would ever see such a use but it does and he stated that sizing the cases was only slightly harder than sizing .45-70 cases which means it is still pretty easy.

The only issue he had was seating the long boolits and he solved that by simply backing out the seating die until he could snake the cartridge in and then screwing it back down to finish seating the boolit. The finished OAL of the cartridges is 3.725 which will just barely fit into the limits of the press which is 3.750+

Anyway I thought you guys would enjoy hearing about this as Castboolits is the Center of the Universe for Cast Boolit Loading, and this application is definitely out past Pluto.

That is great, you designed it well. I am a little surprised that any of the African countries will allow reloading ammunition since most of them follow a socialist agenda.

TN: I guess the deal is that the places he goes only allow a certain amount of live ammo to be brought in for each gun, and so if you plan on shooting more you have to reload.

This guy uses his .577NE for everything by shooting reduced loads for smaller game, and heavy loads for big stuff.

I've had several pretty interesting conversations with him so far and look forward to the whole story being put up on my Website.
