    Put a screw in it, remove the mechanism and get a Rowell ladle.

    Slow simmer with soapy water. Use a drill bit smaller than the spout hole. Best way I've found is fill with clean alloy and pour the spout clean. The spout has a large dia. Space between the valve and the outlet.

    Now that is funny !

    I found that while casting, if I take a screw driver and rotate back n forth the shaft to the spout, it will clean off the crud. Works for me, until it don't. Then drain and clean.
