Leo, there's not enough room for setscrews in the lube holes, they are step-drilled and fairly shallow. Drilling the die all the way through and tapping the hole might work, but you'd have to make the hole quite a bit larger to do this, and would probably lose some lube flow control with the end result being getting lube where you don't want it. A tapped hole might also leave a more ragged edge inside the die, which could mar the slug as it passes through the bore of the die.

It's simplest, and probably more cost-effective, to get dies that are drilled with just enough rows of lube holes to accommodate whatever slug you happen to be sizing at the moment.

    Good shooting,
    Chris

Well call me impressed! To my surprise when I got home from work today, my package with 4 dies, 3 punches, and roller handle. They look nice. Now if my sizer would just hurry up and get here. LOL.

Thanks for the great service Chris!

Lathesmith, this thread has been going on for 11 years and 21 pages, so without going through it all, may I ask a couple of questions?

First, after all this time, are your prices still the same or do they change somewhere about page 16 where I haven't gone yet?
Second, do you currently make a tool for die removal or just recommend the rubber hammer and punch method mentioned on about page three (with loosening of the setscrew, of course)?
Third, are you still taking just Pay Pal and Postal MOs or are other forms of payment now available?

I've just become the proud owner of an old original Star sizing press in excellent condition but currently equipped with a .358 sizing die. I want to set it up dedicated to sizing my various 32 pistol rounds (.313") and will probably leave it set that way semi-permanently. One of the bullets I will be sizing is a HBWC... can I assume I will have to size it base first to avoid crushing the skirt?

    TIA for help and suggestions,
    Froggie
