    Hi Matt,
You can make your punch up to within about .003 or so of actual diameter. If you are getting it this close though, you want to be very careful to make sure everything is set up as good as you can, as it's getting mighty tight for the die/punch interface. Normally, .005 or so below actual size is a good number for gas checked slugs, and for plain-base stuff up to .010 under usually works fine. If you have a special need let me know and we can usually make up what you want.

    Chris

Ordered a couple of dies from Chris a couple of days ago. Tried to order a couple of dies from Magma, but they won't work "outside the box". Needed the dies about .004 oversize on the OD. When I built my machine, I bored the die cavity a little big. Chris had no problem making them oversized so I can fit them. Can't wait for them to get here. Here is the machine I built.Click image for larger version.

    hcvrr:

How about a few more photos of your machine and some details about its construction/operation?

I am really new at posting and I am not sure if it is appropriate to talk about my stuff here. My intention with the picture was to show that Lathesmith, by deviating from his standard setup, was saving me from remaking the hardest part on the machine to make. I would happily post more, but am unsure.

    Thanks
