    Short Barrel 30-30

I picked up a Marlin 30-30 with a 18 1/2 inch barrel. Was thinking about using a plain base cast boolit for it and need some input from others on what to pick. Was on the NOE site and the have a .311 180 PB mold. Think it’s a copy of 311041.

Anyone familiar with it or maybe a better choice. My Marlin has a micro-groove Barrel.

Marlin Microgroove needs a bullet with a larger diameter bore-riding forepart than #311291, because the basic bore diameter is larger, the Accurate 31-155D has a tapered nose, rather than a parallel-sided cylindrical one, and it works well in Marlin barrels with 5-6 grains of Bullseye:

if you find a P/B Ranch dog 165gr mold it would be a good one too.

I believe this is one of Ranch Dog’s molds. Is this what you’re referring too?

    Yes and an excellent boolit.
