Not to sidetrack the discussion, but I wonder if something this heavy would fit and/or could be launched from a 50 Beowulf...

I suspect not. OAL is a bit too long, length of bullet will likely bulge the case near the head, and the 1:20" twist won't stabilize this bullet at 33,000 PSI.

Bummer. Oh well, it'll still be fun out of the mighty 500!

What would you suggest? I normally cast HP 50WW/50 pure. Would that be too soft?

LOL that's enough expansion to take down a house with one cylinder

Just received word from Miha that he has 40 blocks ready to cut cavities. He's waiting on pins. He has asked to CLOSE this group buy. Thanks for all the fast orders. You'll be seeing molds soon!

I may be old school but I'm not obsessive about it. I've been reading up on powder coating, have a grooveless mold, and am about to order the equipment.

I may have to cast several with pure pewter in order to give them away as shot glasses. It's going to be a fun mould to say the least.

Not to ruin your fun, but lots of folks back in the day died from lead poisoning from their pewter ware. Lead was commonly used in the day.
    From WIKI:
Pewter is a malleable metal alloy. It is traditionally composed of 85–99% tin, mixed with copper, antimony, bismuth, and sometimes lead, although the use of lead is less common today. Silver is also sometimes used. Copper and antimony act as hardeners while lead is more common in the lower grades of pewter, which have a bluish tint. Pewter has a low melting point, around 170–230 °C (338–446 °F), depending on the exact mixture of metals.

So, just use straight/pure TIN. Very expensive at today's tin costs. But, fun all the same.

With these being brass molds, wouldn't using straight tin end up soldering the blocks together?

If you use "normal" temperature you won't be able to solder them.
