not good for high velocity?

I was reading through some older posts, and found one about bore riding nose style boolits, and not being any good for over 1800fps. when I do get my gun, I have a modified 37-285C mold at accurate that I am getting. it is the 37-286C. now, considering boolit fit is all good, is there any real reason why I shouldn't be able to get 2100- 2200 fps out of this boolit? the gun is a CZ550FS 9.3X62.

I forgot to mention the barrel is a 1 in 14 twist. maverick, how do you nose size your boolits, just a slip in fit, a little over?

I dont nose size. They are proper size as cast for a slip fit. I am thinking looking at nose sizing because if i powder coat then the nose is too large, forcing me to set deep. Thats also why i dont paper patch to the ojive.

most HV guy's don't use bore riding projectiles.

is there a good 280gr+ non bore riding boolit mold available for the 9.3x62? if the crimp groove is up more than .35-.37 from the base, it will be in the case, in fact at those measurements the gas check is right below the neck, but no lead should be showing

You may have to add copper to keep it together. I have an 85 gr 6 mm that crooned just over 3000 fps using smokes Bacon Grease. Accuracy not the greatest but it sure didn't take long to get to target. A lot depends on gun--every one different.

Walt at NEI had what he called a DD band on the nose of some of his boolits. The band engaged the rifeling supposed to reduce friction or something. I have a few of those molds.

this boolit should have enough grip without using the nose for rifling engagement, I added .10 I think to the forward band ( accurate 37-286C [used to be 37-285c, I modified it]}

I do. Recovered bullets show full rifling engagement from end to the ogee with NO indication of slippage or blow by, try it you may like it. Anything to improve fit and alignment seems to help accuracy.

so the nose does obturate a bit, so easy loading, then grips well when fired. sounds like I just need to measure carefully before I order the mold. I'm still trying to decide between this one or a none bore rider I designed
