    Help. PID error reading UUUU

I have a MyPin TA-4 PID that's been flawless for two years. For the past week when I fire it up, the display shows UUUU after a while. I believe it's an error reading. It heats to just below solidus normally and then shows this on the display and stops heating the pot. I cant find my trouble shooting pages. Help!

    From the former members booklet.

‘UUUU’ Shown in Process Value Display
This signifies an Input error - The possible causes are:
    1. Sensor unplugged
    2. Sensor wire(s) broken.
    3. Temperature is out of range.
    4. Incorrect Sensor Type setting.
    5. Incorrect Input Offset Value set.

I'm assuming that nothing was changed from time it was working till time it was not

    then

sensor wire broken (my 1st thought) or unplugged is good place to start

there is also the chance that the PID has reached the end of its 'life' but this would be a distant 3rd guess

Probe has lost connection. Check the terminals on the jack end and if all is good there, the probe has burned in two inside the stem. Buy em by the 6-pack on fleabay. I have only burned out two or three, but the wait is bothersome. They are cheap enough to keep a few on hand.

Thanks guys, I wiggled the probe end and QD end with no improvement. Plugged the pot straight into the power and the pot heated normally. Took the probe out while it was melted. I too thought it might be the probe, so I'll check connections next. I have plenty of spare probes if I need one.

if not too much trouble change out probe and see what that does for you

can always put the old one back if that isn't the problem

Yep, this is exactly what I would do.
The Probes are more prone to failure than anything else our PIDs.

Update: Think it's all fixed. I checked the connections and everything was good so, replaced the thermo couple probe and it seems to work as it should.

I forgot how really small those screws are and of course lost one under the bench. It got mixed in to a bunch of little pieces of lead and I gave up looking for it. So, also had to replace the quick disconnect on the probe wire.

Thanks for all your replies, guys!
