I want to try a 500 grain cast bullet.

Hello all, trying out my new marlin 1895 takedown with a suppressor. Interested in 500 grain flat point that sizes at least 459 and .460 would be better, cannot be gas checked, as they have a tendency to make things go boom when they get stuck in a suppressor. I have ww, pure and pictures of dead presidents to offer. THANKS. Tom

Let me measure some tonight, if you don't get any hits (and mine are the right size) I'll send a few your way.

Are you looking for ones that are gas checked? I think my .459 are gas checked.

just a hint .. stay away from gas checked bullets in a suppressor unless you Powder Coat with check on ..

you do NOT want a gas check coming off in the suppressor and getting hit with the next shot ... not good

What are wipes being made of these days? metal / non replaceable, or are they like older ones and rubber matt style? Seems like the rubber ones won't strip a check.. but i can see a metal one doing it I guess.

Ahh. Makes sense. My last can ( 20? Years ago ) used replaceable wipes. Kinda like truck mudflap type material.

Sound guy as stated above no wipes anymore. Sound deflection more like a high performance muffler. The cool thing about this one is the endcaps are easily replaced to change calibers but only one tax stamp. I have a puma 357 lever, Marlin 35 REMINGTON, Marlin takedown 45/70, 1911, and AR style .458 socom, all on the same can, with different end plates.
Yes the problem I have is I have seen multiple 500 grain cast from bullet makers but all I saw were gas checked and I will not use a gas check on any bullets that run through a suppressor. I also will not use any over powder wads or tuffs of Dacron etc for the same reason. Will edit original post. thanks

That's the hitch. Stuff in the 459/500gr range today is likely for .458 Lott, or Winmag, and moves fast enough to want a GC.

    Good luck!

My bad. The plain-base RNFP I have on hand measure .460-.463 but they only weigh 405 grains.

I've got a 480 grain plain base mold, remind me to check if I have any cast up. Can you size and lube them yourself? I'll forget by tomorrow without a nudge.......

I remembered to check this morning! Miracles do happen! None cast, just the G/C version already sized/lubed/GC'd. How soon? I have a couple of molds on the way here. I'm hoping to fire up the pot Sun/Mon. I could cast you some sample bullets. What is in the pot right now is 50/50 range scrap and telephone sheathing.
    This is the mold:

    Hope the link comes through.

I have the 2 PB 2 GC version.

Hey 15 meters, I am the guy asking for the favor so you do what you do. I would be very appreciative of some samples. Let me know. Thank you.
