    Base Tear-Out

Hello, just finished a casting session today, and most of the Boolits ended up with the base tearing out instead of a nice clean shear. What causes this?

If you are trying to run fast just touch the sprue plate to a damp dollar store sponge to cool it off enough not to tear.

One method to consider in your casting process is to setup two molds and...

fill #1, set it down, fill #2, set it down, pickup #1 and cut the sprue, repeat

I have found this gives the alloy a chance to set, lets me run a little hotter, and increases my throughput.

BTW, a little base tear out isn't a fatal flaw
