I size my 44 mags to .430-.431 depending on which boolit. For hunting I would use 18.5-19.5 gr of 2400. For all around use I use 8.5 gr of Unique.

If a .431" will slide into all 6 cylinder throats with finger pressure, size to .431" and call it good. This is .431" after pc not .431" then pc..
    Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? shot the barrel loose? WOW !
Ruger couldn't fix it? WOW ! again.

As DougGuy says, .431 seems like the size to use, if it'll fit.

Hunting load, I'd use H110, work up a load for your gun, starting at Hodgdon's recomendation for a start load.

    I don't have a 431 sizer so .430 is my default 44 diameter.

19-19.5 grs of 2400 generally zips lead out of my guns fast enough to make stuff die.
