Brass ID?

Can anybody ID this? Looks to be single hole berdan primed? Might be stamped 1920 with two stars and some kind of Asian letter.

My first thought was Lebel, but the neck doesn't look quite right. I'd have to guess it's an 8x56R Kropatschek?

Portugese made 8mm Kropatschek. Central flash hole on the anvil. New cases can be made from Winchester 348 cases. Frank

Great photo. ID of case neck might narrow it down for us guessers, but samari46 sounds like he's familiar with it.

Upon further examination of other pieces, what I thought was a Chinese character is most likely an A and an E overlaid with each other. I'll have to track down my calipers and measure them.

Safari46 knows his stuff. I dug out my old collection and I have an identical round with the same head stamp, labeled Portuguese Kropaschek.

Used to have a Kropatscheck and a pile of ammo. Most made from 1900's up to around 1920. The E and A are entwined with each other. The bullets were a mix of cupro nickle and steel jacketed. Forget what they weighed. Many had cracked or split necks. Someone needed it more than me. Glad to help. Frank
