If it is a 110 not a 10 (short action) all you need is a barrel &magazine parts.

Try to put an 06 round in the mag to see if it will fit before you go cutting things apart. If it fits you are good to go.

the bolt and action is long enough , but the magazine(blind) well is cut for the 308 ,and the 06 looks nice sitting there , might be a simple mill opp to make it longer ? of too the gunsmith I go ,Roo

I don't know about OZ but 30-06 Savage 110s are common as cats here. Perhaps trading your .308 for one would be easily done if your barrel still has hunting accuracy.

I took a Savage Short action stock and re inletted it for my Long action.
So that shows that the action itself is about 1/2" longer on the 06.
So the magazine box from an 06 will not fit in the short action receiver.

to buy another firearm down here in oz you have to buy a permit ($30.00) in N.S.W ,and the waiting time for it to turn up can be a pain too , but as for finding a savage fp 3006 ,its like find chooks teeth and ive never seen any of those ,the only other 06 that that's my fancy is the Winchester 670 also a blind mag rifle also hard to find here in my state ,Roo
