Bought a 39 1911a1 that is well worn but still nice and tight and shoots good but eats the web of my hand.
If anyone here has a beavertail grip safety with lots of blue wear I am interested

With all due respect, It's easier to buy another hammer and trim the spur, or install a Commander hammer, than to fit a BGS. One that was already fitted to another pistol won't be a perfect match for yours most likely. My free advice is worth what you paid for it lol.

I had a similar issue with a SA Mil-Spec 1911 I have. I bought a "drop in" Wilson combat BTGS off ebay for not much money. I had a gunsmith fit it for me but there are many videos on youtube that pretty much show what you need to do to fit it properly.
The fitting process depends on how mechanically inclined you are and how familiar you are with the internals of a 1911.
You will need a commander style hammer to use with the beavertail safety in any case. The hammer spur on the Mil spec 1911 is too long for it to work. It interferes with the beavertail.
