A quick question on early Ideal tools......

I'm looking for one of the early Ideal tools for the .38 S&W cartridge...not special. There's one up for auction at a decent price, but it's marked "S&W 38 M". If I recall, wasn't the "M" (military) designation for the .38 special?

3006guns, I believe you're right ,as I just saw a S&W for sale on Simpson's site, and the barrel was stamped > S&W 38 MIL <. Good luck with your tool search.

3006guns, you are exactly correct. I have four early Ideal tools which are marked ".38 S. & W. M.", and I can verify that they are for loading the .38 Special.

    Thanks guys..........that's what I suspected. I'll keep looking for a .38 S&W tool.
