    45 ACP shotshell results.

So , I had planned to go caribou hunting today on my day off. But a bunch of stuff got in the way. Like not being able to find my keys and wood that needed stacking in the shed ect. Ect.
But , I got to go hunting without leaving the yard .

I skinned it to see what the pellet hit count was . Range was 20 feet. About 10 pellets hit it . 3 killed it . 2 hit the top of the skull 1 penetrated into the neck
Load is 45 ACP. CCI with #9 shot.

If you had made the trip for caribou, there is a good chance you'd be dog tired, with no kill, and still have wood to stack. This way you proved the effectiveness of your shotshells, got chores done, didn't need the keys, and got free groceries.
It doesn't get any better than that.

Ya , Ill be glad when freeze up gets here . even tho I gotta build a garage. And get another 6 cord of wood home and in the shed. I'm REALLY hoping most of the Nelchina herd doesn't migrate thru during the 1 month closed season. 2nd season opens Oct21. I plan on being in my spot that morning well before dawn.

    Very cool.
Has anyone ever cut down and resized 308 to 45 ACP using a 410 wad and cut copper rod giving a sort of flachet load? It works well with good group.

I take it you are using short lengths of copper wire. Any particular length, or random? Did you cut with side cutters leaving pinched ends?
It sounds like something else I'll just simply have to try since I have what it takes.

8x57 is easier for making full cylinder length "shotshells that work in 45 ACP revolvers like a 25 or 1917 smith. it has a better taper.

Old post but this is interesting to me. I've reloaded rifle, pistol and shotgun before but how do you close off the pistol round to keep the shot in on a pistol round? i assume the proccess/layers is something like..

    resize brass
    prime brass
    add powder
    add shotgun wad
    add shot
    << magic >>
    shoot critter
    harvest and be happy

In revolvers the Speer-CCI .45 ACP shotshell has a tendency to set back against the recoil shield and bind the cylinder.

In my Rugers instead I use the Starline 5 in 1 blank cases having a large flash hole and load these with 5 grains of Bullseye and about 1/3 oz. of shot. Detailed instructions are in my post #16 at this link:

You use an over the shot wad, just like on brass shot gun shells
