    Got a scale upgrade yesterday

I've been using my late fathers old RCBS 5-10 scale forever. But yesterday I was able to pick up this old beauty, RCBS 304. I need to clean up my bench some more to find her a permanent home, but I bet she will be passed on to one of my kids along with the 5-10.

Nice scale. Did they make it in a right hand model?

I just aquired the same scales and really like it. I made a trickler to set on the pad that's quick and easy to use also. It does very good for me and when checked with the check weights and against a couple other scales everything "zeros" out

Just a tip for that grand old 304.......

When not in use, set one of the sliding weight graduations to something other than "zero". If the scale is left zeroed and there is any breeze at all in the room (a/c, ceiling fan, etc.), the scale will seesaw & slowly wear the agate bearings. Or you can throw an old pillow case (or similar) over it. That will also protect it from dust.

Thanks for the tip. It did come with a plastic cover over the top to protect it. Just need more time to play with it.

The 304 is a fairly rare beast here in the UK, however there do pop up from time to time.

Here's one that came in for a makeover some time ago:
