    $20/LB Powder

Found a local guy who is selling several pounds of various powders at $20/LB. Red Dot, Blue Eot, Bullseye, 2400, etc, etc. All I needed that he has is Red Dot and IMR4227. If you're local it's a heck of a deal.

I guess if you can`t find it anywhere closer than 100 miles away, you buy it and call it a deal.Robert

Owe the experimentation..... I use a lot of Titgroup and Reloader 7. Just picked up some 2400 to play with. My local gun range sells members cheapish powder, around 30 bucks pound. You can only buy 1 pound a day and the selection is really limited and don't normally have what I am looking for. The other store where they are 40 something a pound has a massive selection and unlimited purchase quantity and will call me when what I want comes in.

30 and 40 dollars a lb sounds steep. I have been buying online. Tightgroup is running $16 a lb and h110 $20 but if you go for a bigger jug it is less than that. Of course there is shipping and hazmat. What I do is save my pennies until I can place a large order. The extra fees are not as significant then especially when you buy the larger jugs. Earlier this year Midsouth had a deal with no hazmt. I jumped all over that.

At $40 a pound you can buy 1 pound online , pay hazmat and shipping and come out cheaper. Buy 2 pounds and you are really saving.

Powder is back to normal pricing by me. It's more expensive then in some areas but nowhere near $30-40 a pound.

Powder in the western NY area seems to be less expensive. I just bought 8 lbs of Promo for $114. Other shotshell/pistol powders in 4 and 8 lb. caddies are all less than $20. The most expensive I've seen lately was 8 lbs. of 296 my friend bought for $155. Once you start getting in to $30-$40/lb it's time to order online.

I am new to reloading. I bought some HS6 for a little over $20 about two years ago. Since then the price of ammo has come down but the price of powder just keeps going up. Do you folks think that powder will ever come down and if so how much? And primers? They are continuing to rapidly escalate in price around here. Is there any hope?

unless we get together as a group and not buy anything for an entire year they will charge whatever we will pay.

I buy powder from Graf's,Powder Valley, and Bruno's.I buy enough at a time that the hazmat fee doesn't matter.I did pick up a couple of pounds from BassPro's once but that was just to use a few gift cards. Most of the local places are just too expensive.

I'm lucky enough to have Bruno's local to me. Been buying quite a bit of powder and primers from them lately.

I'd be grumpy if I had to pay much more than $20/lb.

Just bought some 2400 today for the first time in over a year. Looked around quite A bit & just found some at the LGS in Rochester( 50 miles one way local... LOL ) It was 24.99 +tax = almost $27.00. Higher than I would like top pay , but being it has been scarce, "a man has ta do what a man has ta do" (or woman LOL )

The owner said he has been having trouble getting it & only got a case. I am thinking he might have only wanted me to buy one rather than two & I reckon others might want to get in on it, so I was not a pig & asked for more.

[BTW, Shiloh... if ya haven't got any & need some... might want to get there before it is gone. I'll send ya a PM in case ya don't see this.]

Anyway, it is not as good as the OP prices, but it was good for me to be able to get some more 2400. I only had a couple oz.s left...
