    Blazer ammo

Today was in Grices Gun Shop in PA. Lots of Blazer ammo on the shelf, $24 for a brick of 500.

Blazer is great stuff. Haven't seen it on the shelves for a long time. Glad you found some.

    They've been known to lie.

Zip tear off flap ='s federal
    Tuck in flap ='s cci

    Lot #'s beginning with #'s ='s federal
Lot #'s beginning with letters ='s cci
    [IMG][/IMG]

Both boxes will say cci blazers on the outside. But the bullets and trays will be different.

federal ='s white trays with legs 510 style bullet
cci ='s clear flat tray dark bullet with 2 drive bands
    [IMG][/IMG]

The federal "blazers" are nothing more than their 510 brand (blue box).

The only reason I'm bringing this up is some firearms love blazers but hate 510's. It doesn't happen very often but I do see where federal made a run of the blazers for cci.

    Forrest,
If it matters that much to you they pass all your tests and are still CCI Blazers. Tuck in flaps, clear trays, no legs, etc

    Actually I could care less!!!!!!

I was merely trying to point out that there can be a difference in who made the blazers. To some people it matters, others it's nothing more than blammo ammo fodder.

I guess I should look at it as I should quit trying to help people or quit informing them of what they are actually looking at.

Keep posting these kinds of posts and perhaps someone might find the info useful.

    On a side note:
The # vs letter thing applies to all the federal/cci ammo. They have been known to make centerfire ammo for each other and the only way to tell is by looking at the lot #'s.

Thanks for that info, I have several rifles that like blazer and not so much 510s! Have quit buying bulk Federal 22s so I will be checking blasers before purchase. The Federal American Eagle does seem to group well in some lots as well. No real telling till you shoot groups in the specific rifle. I'm not much for " just going bang", squirrel head at 50 yards = 5/8 in or better for 5 shots. Blasers can do it in 2 of my rifles, pretty good for cheapish stuff!

No problem rking22, some people get it others not so much.

Some people actually use their 22's ,other are happy to hit dirt clods @ 10 paces when they hit the loud button.

Went back and negotiated an even better deal on 10 more bricks. All made by CCI. I had no idea Federal was making the same ammo at one point so appreciate the tips on picking out the differences.
If any of you guys are 30-30 fans they are also selling Remington 150 and 170 gr ammo for $12.99 a box and then Remington is giving a $5 rebate per box. That is a final price of $7.99 a box!

10+ years ago I bought 15000 rnds at $5.00 a brick from Sportsman's Guide. That was at $150.00 and free shipping. Two weeks later they would not sell any more to me claiming I was selling it. Wrong!!

By the way it still shoots great.

    Forrest r,
Thanks for the insightful post. I, and probably most, didn't know there was a difference. Even though I don't shoot Blazers, if I ever do I'll know what to look for. Being educated on a subject I truly enjoy was one of the main reasons I joined Castboolits.
