    Not the best coverage....

Using Smoke's powder in a #5 coolwhip bowl both with and without ASBB's both room temp and pre heating boolit to 140 degrees
then dumping into a wire mesh basket. I'm getting what seems to me like a bit too much bare spots here and there. I'm guessing it probably will not make a big difference????

Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a fix? Should I even worry about it?

    Thanks in advance.

What color powder are you using? They all coat differently.

The white and sulfur can be a little spotty on the first coat for me, but the boolit is completely covered with coating something about the lead showing through where the pigment didn't mix completely with the clear.

others reason could be humidity or dirty/contaminated lead

It's really probably more cosmetic than anything. Just wondering if anyone else has this happening?

I had uneven coverage using wire baskets and lines where it touched. I went back to standing mine up on silicone mats cut to fit my tray. Not sure how much it would affect I just d8dnt feel like mine were getting even coverage via that method. Shake and dump I use hitek.

I have been water dropping as well. I can see the bare spots before they hit the water though....

You probably have minerals in the water . Hard water with calicum would be an issue
Probably would need to wash in acetone or like to remove mineral deposits

Smoke. To clarify. I am PC'ing the bullets straight from the mold. Air cooled. Out of the oven they hit the water.

Sometimes on humid days it don't coat as well. After I went to the PVC pipe coating method it doesn't seem to matter what the humidity is.Also I think the coating sticks better if I don't coat the same day as cast, but not 100% sure if I remember that right.

Ok blotchly coating is usually one of 2 things
Not shaking hard enough or oven not an actual 400 degrees
Not having a convection oven can also be an issue as you get hot and cold spots in the oven

I get results using Ziplok screw on lid #5 containers & asbb. I use smoke's powders & shake for about 40sec. I don't dump tem out though, pluck them out with large tweezers. Maybe the the dumping into the basket is knocking coating off? I also use a conv, oven, 400deg for 15m, then water drop.
