POLL ... How many different Calibers do you load for?

Check the box that applies to you...

Maybe, as part of the Poll, I shoulda asked...which three do you enjoy loading the most?

Well...for pistols, right now...my 'favoriteiest' is the .45ACP and the close second to that is the .45Colt.
I like shooting them and the components for the reloads don't slip or jump out of my old broke up hands.

Rifle...right now is the 8mm with that goofy 243 grain 323378 for the M48.

This past couple of years I have been engrossed in the pistol HP's and water testing the alloys at the various speeds.
It's a real kick in the pants to be able to blend the proper components so they mushroom to the max without fragging.

It doesn't take too much to get this old farts attention focused in the shop...turn the stereo on to 50-60's...and all the sudden the whole day just whizzes by!

    it needs to go higher.
I had 64 or 65 die sets the last time I sorta counted.
I'm sure some are duplicates since I have 3 357 sets, one is set for 38 one for 357 and one for 357 max I also have a 38 steel size die I use to neck size my 358 win cases.
so they don't really count as 4 or as 1 I guess.

R5R...I was thinking of how many calibers does anyone personally load for...how many they shoot personally and reload. Not how many die sets you might have collected over the decades...I dunnoh really, if you have a die set I suppose that one is capable of loading for it.

As always, it's only after the poll posts that these little BRAIN FARTS surface . . . . . . Good thing we ain't in an elevator!

It'd be easier for me if there was a button that said "All of them"
"People in Arizona carry guns," said Detective David Ramer, a Chandler police spokesman. You better be careful about who you are picking on...

38 Special, 357 Magnum, 223 Remington, 32 Winchester Special, 30-30, 30-06, Makarov 9 x 18, and thinking of adding more. While the poll is still very early (not many responses), its beginning to look like reloading is like eating peanuts-- you can't stop with one.

As I got "smarter", I realized that the KISS principle applied to me. I sold off a lot of stuff that I did not really need. I am down to ten and will likely cut another one to two out this year.

Redundancy for me is having multiple guns in the same caliber, not multiple calibers that have little performance difference to justify them. I shed my .30/06 and went with the .308 fit that reason. I could not decide between shedding the .243, .25/06, and .270 and wound up getting rid of all three. I do not miss them at all.

I kinda share your outlook on this...only from a slight angle.
Each time I added another gun to the cabinet there were more considerations...did I have the dies? Did I have sufficient brass...back in my youth that meant at least 500 rounds, today more. It's always been a larger purchase than just adding another gun.
Then on top of all that I was responsible to keep them clean, maintained and sighted properly. I grew up on the GUlf Coast where you don't buy a chunk-O-steel and throw it in with the other safe Queens and expect to pull her out a couple times a year and have it in good shape.

Yeah, I'd have to add practical to the list. Sometimes you don't just do something because you can...

    .220 Swift
    .223
    30-30
    9x19
    .45 Colt

Don't need to reload .223 and 9x19, but do for the fun of it and to make soft point/hollow point ammo. The 30-30 can be thrown into that camp too. I can't stand empty brass, I get anxious and have to load them... signs of mental illness, I suppose, hahahaha.

The Swift and .45 are my mandatory reloading calibers; the Swift for accuracy and the .45 so I don't go broke buying factory ammo.

Hats off to you folks that load so many different calibers.

    Pistol 7.62x25 C-52, 9mm, .40sw, .45acp.
    Rifle .223, 7.62x39, 7.62x54r, .300BO, .30-30, 9mm, .357mag, .444.
Shotgun 12 ga, 20 ga, .410. Last two both using brass hulls and a homemade reloading kit.

Voted 12 but I forgot about the 20 and .410 so it should have been 15.

20 ga, .410 and 7.62x25 I have reloaded the least.

Most is probably the 7.62x39. I have bought 1k of brass for it twice.
It may be cheap to buy but the cheap stuff has wide differences in bullet weights and powder weights. So I prefer to make my own using 185 gr gas checked bullets and IMR 4895 in modest quantity's. They are not fast but they hit hard.

I'm thinking 29. I counted 38/357 as 2 and 44spl/44mag as 2 because I have guns in both calibers although I use the same die set. I tend to sell die sets if I sell a gun in a caliber that I don't expect to replace, so every die set I have gets used.
