Global Warming and or Climate Change

Do you believe in global warming? Climate change? I used to think it was a complete hoax. Lately I am becoming more convinced it is happening. I used to believe that Man was incapable of having any effect on the environment. I now believe that he or she can be the cause of weather change, for the better or worse. What does this have to do with deep theological discussion you ask? Let me explain. I still believe that global warming has nothing to do with the car or truck I drive, the amount of fossil fuel I use or the amount of water I put on my lawn. It doesn’t have anything to do with the way I heat or cool my house. It has everything with how we humans, God’s children, behave. How well we keep His commandments. How well we love one another. How well we treat each other. My study of scripture convinces me more each day that man’s behavior, and God's reaction to it has great effect on his environment.

If I follow Jesus’ example and live as He taught, am I going to avoid all the climate change going on around me? No, but if I follow God’s commandments and live as I should, any pain or suffering I am called on to endure will be a brief moment in eternity. If I live as Christ taught, it will affect others. If we all live as Christ taught, it will affect the environment.

Everything in nature cycles. Up and down.

They are just starting to figure out that the sun has some really long cycles. 230 years for a piece of it. Over double that for the whole cycle.

You look at tree ring data, and the Greenland and Antartica ice core data. Every slow climb up in temp is followed by an almost straight line down into ice age territory. The tips of the heat cycles are short. The climb back up from the deep freeze is long and long and hard and cold.

No I am not worried about global warming. I am worried about the next ice age.
But unless humans start living twice as long I'll be gone by the time it can reach me.
So I don't worry about it much.

Also, I have come to not believe anything the mass media says. Its all fake news. It is all slanted. It is all by design.

The truth is out there. But you might have to open your mind. Let go of some preconceived notions.

Were just had a record run of zero hurricanes hitting the U.S. for many many years.
So now it looks like we got two
Still record low hurricanes hitting the U.S.
If that is due to anthropomorphic global warming, I want more of it.

    Yes there is warming
    Yes it has always happened
    No we don't cause it.
That would be like the ant hill in my driveway causing my house to collapse.

It all about money and control.

THEY, being the government, are looking for a way to tax the air we breath.
    I ask of you:
Was there a Ice Age? yes?
what happened at the end of that Ice Age? global warming, yes??
look at the planet Mars in recent decades. Mars has ice caps similar to ours, except they are dry ice, ours is water ice.
Mars ice caps have been shrinking recently, how do you explain that???
Perhaps the SUN is getting hotter??
think about it, how did man made anything effect the dry ice on Mars??

this is my opinion on hte subject, after pondering it for a while:

all the wars and rumors of wars (and other random pestilence, flood and famine etc) are there to make unbelievers wonder, as well as be a harbringer of when the end comes. it also gives the God-less something to worry about. If you notice, all the bad stuff thats predicted never brings on the Armegeddon that Dateline predicts. And that is to prove God is in control over Earths destiny. Now in Revelation, allllllllllll that crazy stuff that Dateline is concerned with is really gonna happen. sorry if this is hard to follow, i am still developing my theory.... and im not super fast at typing and i maybe have some "ADD", keeping thoughts linear is hard...

The scriptures have many references to God using the weather to indicate his displeasure or approval of mankind's actions, especially in the withholding or provision of rain.

This is what I know, think & believe.

Scientists have proven that North America has gone through two ice ages. This is where the earth gets cold enough for ice to form one mile thick over the Great Lakes area, then the earth warms up enough for it to melt and disappear. Not many people with cars & SUV's 10,000-15,000 years ago.
Could the presents of man with cars and SUV's now be a contributing factor? I don't know, but my guess is, . . . 'No'.
If it is a problem, it is beyond the ability of man to control it.

Whether it is real or not, the government should not have the power to enslave it's people through taxes over something that may or may not be real or may or may not be caused by man.

    Well said Hickory!

At one point Scientists say the earth was essentially a frozen snowball. Even most of the ocean's were frozen. The amazing part is that it did not stay that way.

Nature cycles, period. Some of those cycles are incredibly long. Longer than the lives of man. Longer than we have had accurate measurements over a significant portion of the world.

Science likes to think it knows it all, but it is very very clear they do not.
We are just scratching the surface.

All this global warming hype is about UN agenda 21, power, and money.

As such the average person should be dead set against any part of it. Go read Agenda 21. Then be afraid, be very afraid.

I'm with Ghost and Hickory. Europe experienced what has been called the "Mini Ice Age" back in medieval times, and it really took its toll on both man and the land. The earth seems to have a God looking after it who takes care of it in whatever way needs to be to insure our survival, at least so far. He sees what's coming, and provides the cure. It may not be what we WANT, because we always want everything to be EASY. But He knows far better than we do, what is TRULY needed, and He always gives us what we NEED, rather than just what we WANT. If we always got what we wanted, what would this world be like? I think it'd be a real mess, because our wants don't seem to have any sobriety nor any end within them. I'm afraid we'd "want" ourselves into oblivion! The easy path always leads to oblivion of one form or another, anyway.

Personally, I think "Global Warming" as it's generally referred to these days, is just another fear tactic to get people to give up yet more of our freedoms and liberties. It's a con man's game, being run by charletans like Al Gore, et al, that is designed and run and organized just to line the pockets of the already rich, at the expense and subjugation of the poor and middle class, or what's left of our "middle class." As such, I think it's a VERY dangrous game that some play, and a VERY dangerous thing to NOT question HIGHLY before accepting. There are so many, many climatologists who DENY VEHEMENTLY that "climate change" as it's often put forth, or "global warming," is in ANY way a legitimate cause for concern. If the ice ages came and went without burning fossil fuels, I doubt VERY seriously that the fossil fuels we burn are any real threat to any of us, much less the earth as a whole. The proportions just aren't "right."

Yeah, there may be changes in the weather. What's new about that???? As someone noted, we've had a very long and pretty unprecedented "easy spell" when it comes to hurricanes. I think it's only our relatively "modern" tendency to demand an easy, short, terse explanation for everything we don't like, that gives rise to "global thinking" myths - that and someone wanting to line their pockets even MORE deeply! That's what I think, anyways, FWIW.

Global Warming is a complete hoax. It is a political movement.
Years ago it was realized by market think tanks. When communism/socialism collapse under there own weight, the environment movement would attract the tru believers. It has.

For me, I look at it this way. How often is your weather forecast WRONG

Now they try to tell us there is global warming. Sure there is

I accept global warming - I see it in the climate, the wood I burn, the brutal 40 below zero F we don't get anymore. I accept the data collected by people the world over.
Americans consume about 25% annually for about 10% or less of the population.
If the Chinese and or India consumed at our level, with about 1/2 the total human population - powered by coal the sky would be black.
Better to nip that in the bud.

Peter told of the warming to which we should be most attentive, 2nd Peter 3:

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.[c] 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

before the last ice age started in Europe, in the 1400s, England EXPORTED more grape wine to france then france made on its own. The climate change thingy happened and well ba BOOOM . no more grapes in England.

We are according to most sensible scientists about to start a mini ice age again in the next decade. Its supposed to last 25-35 years. And each winter is supposed to be like the crappy bad winter of winters we had during the Battle of the Bulge. That was the worst winter in a decade when it hit.

And if people WERE worried about gods wrath, theyd realize the old testament heavenly retribution on Sodom and gommorah was not based on over pollution caused by SUVs and low gas mileage.

The so called learned minds have to have something to talk about for self-importance. Nature causes thousands of times as much so called pollution and takes care of it in stride. We are but a drop in the bucket when it comes to controling nature. I don't blame scientist for trying to explain natural occurances in light of their short history of facts, but there is way too little known to predict or control it.
Yep, even I know that we are in a warming cycle, and in the past, we were cooler, but we were warmer also.
The only thing we can reliably predict is that things will change, or remain the same. Neither is totally right or wrong, just a difference in time frame.
    Information not shared. is wasted.

Climate change happens, and it happens to enough extremes on its own to have caused extinctions long before we arrived on the scene. The only question is how much humanity is a factor in the current swing of it. What boggles me is that of all the man-made-climate-change doomsayers out there, not very many of them are suggesting the most obvious answer of "STOP BREEDING!!!" If you've contributed your DNA to more than two children that have lived to adulthood, you're part of that problem. Even if it's not a climate change factor, you're contributing to the general crankiness by making everyone's commute longer.

The evidence of mine own eyes: The universe (or, if you like, The Universe God Created) is extremely inhospitable to life as we know it. Vacuum, flying rocks, and radiation out there (including a variable and ultimately doomed sun); and every bug, microbe, and plant trying to eat, infect, poison, or edge out everything else to further its own biology here. This notion of "living in harmony with nature" makes me chuckle - NATURE doesn't live in harmony with nature. "That which does not kill us makes us stronger" is closer to the truth. We'll either evolve the physical characteristics to survive whatever arrows the universe shoots at us, develop the brains to come up with a workaround (i.e. sunblock), or we won't. The theological discussion that arises from this model: there's little question that God's Universe wants us dead; but what purpose do we serve by being alive?
