NOE star adapter and bushings question

Al has told me all I need is his star adapter and the bushing of my choice in size. My question is what punch is used to push the bullets into the die? I'd like to use his bushings to size between .225 through .452 , would I need a flat punch for each caliber or could I get away with one flat punch to push all my bullets through the different size bushings? What about GC bullets?

I only shoot powder coated bullets right now, so would rather not spend a bunch on star dies when I can get the bushings for less money.

I have punches for every caliber. You can most likely get away w/ a smaller one. But for the cost I bought the ones I needed.

I would suggest you get the proper size for each rifle caliber.
then one for the smallest pistol caliber and probably one in 44.

edit: I could show you pics of a deformed GC on a 243 boolit, deformations made by a .224 punch, while it was pushing the GC boolit through a Lee size die.

I am confused. Al makes adapters to use other (RCBS or Lyman) sizers in Star sizers? Or am I way off base?

No, Al makes an adaptor to allow you to use his bushings to size but NOT lube in your star lubesizer.

great for intermediate reductions or for powder coated bullets.

I use a punch the appropriate diameter for the bullets base.
I will swap a couple around if they are close.
1 will do 30-31-32 cal no problem
another for 35-37 and one for 41-44. etc.
if your doing gas checks a flat one the correct size is the right way to do it.
