46 lbs delivered to my door.

My scrapper contact gave me a shout this morning and let me know he had some lead sheets for me. He brought 46 lbs by tonight. If this cool weather continues, I will have a big smelting weekend.

The guy responded to a Craigslist ad I posted a while back. I pay him $0.50/lb and he drops it off on my porch. It works well for both of us.

If he ever gives me a call and I'm not interested, you'll be the first guy I contact.

Sheet lead is pretty close to pure for alloy calculations, right?

Maybe- sometimes. It depends on what it is intended to be used for. Some sheet lead has a few percent Sb to keep it from drooping if used in that application.
Google the suppliers and look at all the alloys available.
You will see that often we get roof lead which is very close to pure.
But not all sheet lead is roof lead.

I was told that this was roof lead designed to go around skylights.

Then I bet it is pure or close to it. Good score!

Got home yesterday and I had two 5 gallon buckets of 60/40 solder scrap sitting in my driveway sent to me by a company that I used to work for. Now I need to see what else I need to make some nice alloy. I have plenty of lead and lino so I suspect that non zinc clip on wheel weights will do the job.
